The former United boss spoke openly for months about wanting to sign a centre-half, but executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and co didnt feel the Spurs ace could play in a two.Speaking on the Transfer Talk podcast, he said: “Let’s remember, the United board were not that keen on Alderweireld in the first place.“Jose Mourinho wanted him, he was the one who said we want to bring Alderweireld in.“However, the board vetoed that as there were doubts if he could play in a two.3
