El-Hadji Diouf has reignited his war of words with Liverpool saying he regrets wearing their shirt and he should have joined Manchester United.Diouf has been continuously bitter and vocal about the club and some of its former players ever since he left Anfield for Bolton Wanderers in 2004.3

After impressing for Senegal at the 2002 World Cup, he joined the club for 10m, but failed to replicate the form he showed that summer in the Far East and has now said he should have gone elsewhere.“I can say today that the shirt that I regret wearing the most was Liverpools, because if I were to do that part of my career again, I would have gone to FC Barcelona or Manchester United. At the time, they wanted me too,” he told French outletRMC.3

Diouf exchanges words with Jamie Carragher

The controversial striker scored just six times in his Liverpool career, which was more notable for incidents of spitting and unprofessionalism, includingsnatching the ball away from Neil Mellor as he prepared to take a penalty.Diouf has a particular hostile relationship with Steven Gerrard and has made his feelings on the club legend clear on a number of occasions.“When I arrived I showed him he was nothing at all.
